Hello, and welcome! In this lesson, we'll be springboarding off of our analysis of 込む, and creating three new types of compound verbs.
So, I hope you like verbs, and... compounding.
Stem form verb切る
Example:
→ これ全部飲み切れないよ!
”I can't finish drinking all of this!”
All three compound verbs we'll be looking at today have to do with "finishing" a given action, but they all express this in slightly different ways...
We'll start things off with ~切る.
When we attach 切る to a verb stem, we express that said verb is done "completely", or alternatively, we emphasize a given state. Not every verb is 切る-able, but common compounds use verbs such as 食べる, 飲む, 書く, 売る and やる.
