About

そのうえうえに are used to express "on top of that"/"not only, but also"/"as well as", and link two pieces of information together.

そのうえ comes at the start of a sentence or clause: うえに links together two clauses.

E.g. セッターになるにはトスの正確せいかくさがかせない。そのうえ相手あいてうごきを視野しやひろさも必要ひつようだ。 "Setting precision is indispensable in becoming a setter. On top of that, you need to have a wide field of vision with which you can see your opponent's movement."

うえに links together two clauses:

E.g. ねつがらないうえせきるので、今日きょう仕事しごとやすみます。"(My) fever won't go down and what's more, I have a cough, so I'm going to take today off from work."

E.g. おくれてきたうえあやまらないとは何事なにごとだ。 "What on earth is (this person doing) not apologizing on top of being late?"

うえに can attach to casual form verbs/い-adjectives or to nouns/な-adjectives using な・である.

そのうえ and うえに are most commonly used in written, polite spoken, or formal spoken scenarios.
