〜てでも

About

The 〜てでも pattern is used to describe the speaker's strong will/desire to do X, "even if they have to do Y".

〜てでも is a combination of a て form verb and でも.

We can approximate 〜てでも with "even if (I) have to X", wherein X is an exceptional action that the speaker would do to achieve a certain goal.

The second half of a 〜てでも statement often features the speaker's desire or strong will.

E.g. 高たかい家賃やちんを払はらってでも東京とうきょうに住すみたいです。 "I want to live in Tokyo, even if I have to pay high rent."

E.g. 叶かなえたい夢ゆめがあるなら、仕事しごとを辞やめてでも挑戦ちょうせんするべきですよ。 "If you have a dream you want to achieve, you ought to try, even if it means quitting your job."

E.g. 何なんとしてでもマイクとデートに行いきたい！ "I'd do anything to go on a date with Mike!"

〜てでも is most commonly used in casual/polite spoken scenarios.
