The 〜ていては pattern is used to express that "if one keeps doing/always does X, Y negative consequence will occur".

The 〜ていては pattern is a combination of a ている form verb and the 〜ては conditional.

〜ていては is most commonly used in casual or polite spoken scenarios.

E.g. くら部屋へやほんでいてはわるくなりますよ。 "If you keep reading books in a dark room, your eyesight will get bad."

E.g. 他人たにんばかりにしていては、やりたいことがやれないよ。 "If you always care about what others think, you won't be able to do what you want."
